Library

Bidwill Public School has a school library containing over 70,000 resources covering picture fiction, junior fiction, senior fiction, non-fiction and reference books for students. The library also houses teacher resources, big books, posters, maps, charts, video recordings, DVD's, audiovisual books, CD-ROM's, periodicals, guided readers and maths equipment for teachers.

The library is a calm, quiet environment for the students to visit. The school computer lab is located inside the library. The students can spend their lunch breaks in the library reading books, playing quiet board games and use the computers in the computer lab.

As part of the school library program, students learn how to research using information processing skills. They are:

  • define - understanding what the task is about.
  • locate-  find resources with current and useful information
  • select-  collect information using key words and phrases
  • organising- organise the information into a rough draft
  • presenting- publish the information including borders, headings and illustrations
